چکیده

Poor oral health has been suggested as a potential risk factor for the occurrence of cardiovascular events. The present study aimed to test hypothesis that number permanent natural teeth (NT) is independently associated with ischemic stroke (IS) or transient attack (TIA) in southern Brazilian population. This case-control enrolled 458 subjects, 229 hospital patients diagnosed IS TIA (cases) and no history disease (controls). NT was assessed through head neck multidetector computed tomography angiography (MDCTA) panoramic radiographs. participants were matched by age sex. Sociodemographic medical confounding variables obtained from charts structured questionnaire. Multivariate logistic regression analysis carried out estimate association between TIA. mean 58.37 ± 10.75 years, 46.7% males. Adjusted analyses showed an independent hypertension (OR = 6.34, 95%CI 3.93–10.24), smoking 4.70, 2.76–7.99) (lower quartile: ?7 teeth) 5.59, 2.88–10.86). inversely this Present findings suggest gradient effect on IS.
